Marketing campaigns in Virtual Bucharest

Local brands are slowly but creatively starting to integrate their marketing campaign with the virtual world, deploying interesting activities that involve the community gathering in Virtual Bucharest. Our group is now reaching 8,000 subscribers and trafic continues to stay around 30.000 daily.

All along summer we have been running a contest in partnership with KissFm radio station, the red scarf was followed in real life to catch a scooter per day as well as in Second Life for a daily prize of 3.000 L$.  For more than 40 days, the radio star Dezbracatu’ has been visiting also Virtual Bucharest, giving away Linden Dollars to avatars wearing his red scarf. The creativity of the users was amazing, many of them playing with the brand by creating tattoos, t-shirts, hats or anything that might have grab the attention to be picked as the next winner.

At the beginning of September another two brands have kicked into Virtual Bucharest: ING Bank with a very cool product ING WebCard – a one month promotion offering prizes of 60.000 L$ to users that apply for a card during this promotion and Cosmopolitan magazine with a creative contest of photography.

Ongoing now, GfK Romania – the prestigious marketing research company, is looking to recruit people to participate to their specialised focus-groups, an interesting and well paid “job” for any resident wishing to share information about their consumption habits inside the virtual world.

Last but not least, one of the most intelligent TV shows in Romania – Cronica Carcotasilor – is running a highly creative contest in search for talents in Second Life. They benefit of an accurate replica of their TV studio where users can impersonate the presenters, role-play various local VIPs or create and record their own virtual shows. The most creative have the chance to be broadcasted on TV.

2 PR Oscars for Rogalski Grigoriu and Virtual Bucharest campaign

The International Public Relations Association (IPRA – www.ipra.org) has awarded the campaign “What a fun time to be here!” for Virtual Bucharest with Two Golden World Awards in the competition for the most creative and effective PR campaigns in the world.

The two categories are among the most hotly disputed ones in the competition: PR on a Shoestring involves campaigns with a high level of complexity while the e-PR / Use of Internet awards the most creative campaigns developed with online tools.

It is a big recognition for the visionary team of Rogalski Grigoriu PR agency, who joined the project and offered their help as soon as we announced what we are intending to do. Eight months after launcing Virtual Bucharest the first international recognition has arrived, fuelling our energies to go further and continue our mission.

We are concentrating on finding new partners and eventually sponsors to help us grow further with the next phases. If you want to join us in this unique project, please contact us.

Traffic figures after first 5 months

Before opening Virtual Bucharest our estimation was an average of 7.000 traffic per day (traffic in Second Life is counted according to an algorithm that measures not only the number of visitors but also the time they spend in a certain location – the involvement of users).

Now, after the first 5 months we can say that traffic is way beyond our best exepectations, averaging today around 35.000 per day. Practically 7 times more than we thought it will be.

So long Virtual Bucharest!
