Proud to be Romanian. Are you?
The initiative of building a Virtual Romania in the world of Second Life was born following an increasing trend among industry developers to create realistic 3D spaces, which are attracting the local communities and encouraging virtual travelling.
As Romania is struggling since quite a time to define a coherent and functional branding strategy (which probably should start with and from within the people) we thought about testing the power of virtual worlds and their advanced social networking capabilities to promote our country in a fun, effective and non-conventional way.
We have actually inspired from the examples of Visit Mexico and Italia Vera, two virtual projects which are bringing a lot of service to their countries as well as their corresponding user communities.
Besides the visual impact of the 3D simulated enviroment, Virtual Romania is a project sustained by real people, aiming to gather a compact community of native Romanians ready to collaborate and help in promoting our best places, products and services among the international users.
So, are you a proud Romanian? You can give us a hand in this endeavour! You don’t necessarily have to be a Second Life active user but you can contribute with ideas, skills or resources. Together we can make a change, so if you want to be part of this unique project, leave us a comment here or contact us.

I think it’s interesting that romanians will have their own community, like allt he rest of residents have, a place where they have the opportunities for development!!

I think the best part of Romania for travellers are the villages and the traditional habits (unlike Italy and its amazing cities for instance). The Hunedoara Castle is not so heavily publicized but beautiful. I would definitely focus on this kind of items, Danube Delta and not so touristy ski resorts. Good luck!!!
