“Win Your Dream House” contest by BCR in Virtual Bucharest

Romanian Commercial Bank is creatively integrating its newest campaign for mortgage loans into Second Life. Virtual Bucharest visitors are invited to participate in a contest that require them to answer 3 questions about the product, the correct answers bringing them a small guaranteed amount in L$ and the chance to win one of the big prizes of 10.000 L$ for buying themselves a dream home in the virtual world.

As the contest goes on in three rounds, the winner of the first one has been selected last week, a girl who had no experience in the virtual real estate market but with very clear ideas about how her ideal house should look like. Therefore, she not only cashed in the money, but also got support and advice on how to better invest them into the virtual property. Finally, after few days of searching and comparing prices, she got her dream home in Second Life:

It is an interesting way to engage consumers into conversation, to motivate learning and to connect real world products with the virtual world specifics, always having in mind the interest of the users.

The contest will run till the end of October, with other 2 rounds selecting winners for their own dream home in the virtual world and is reserved exclusively to Romanian speaking community.

Fun events

Virtual Bucharest has been celebrating today the International Kissing Day with a fun event powered by BCR: a kissing contest among Romanians who were supposed to kiss as many avatars as possible during the 2 hours party. Not surprisingly, the most courageous were the women, persuading both men and fellow women to let themselves kissed by  clicking on a specific pose-ball that would trigger the kiss animation. How amusing that was you can see in the pictures below:

Over 10.000 Proud Romanians and a special exhibit

The Virtual Bucharest group has hit a new milestone with over 10.000 Proud Romanians members registered at the beginning of May 2010.

Also, this month Virtual Bucharest is promoting Romanian beautiful landscapes and cities with a special photo exhibit on SS Galaxy – the only full size, full scaled, and full featured virtual cruise ship in Second Life. SS Galaxy is part of the SisterCitiesSL network and is hosting each month a different location from the member cities, as a way of promoting each of them and driving traffic to and from local and international communities.

With a variety of natural richness as well as flavourous city cultures, Romania holds its treasures well hidden, from the medieval towns in Transylvania to the world-famous Painted Monasteries in Bucovina or traditional villages in Maramures. With the magnificent architecture of Bucharest, Sibiu, Brasov and many other cities or the romantic Danube Delta (included on the list of World Heritage Sites of Unesco in 1991), the fairy-tale castles, the Black Sea resorts and the majestic Carpathian Mountains, Romania offers to its visitors a large array of interesting activities and tourist attractions.

Romeo Huidu, the author of the images in this exhibit, is a Romanian photographer with an impressive collection of landscapes and scenes from some of the most beautiful places of the country, from the medieval towns in Transylvania to the romantic Danube Delta (included on the list of World Heritage Sites of Unesco in 1991),  the Black Sea resorts or the majestic Carpathian Mountains as well as magnificent architecture of Bucharest, Sibiu, Brasov and many other cities:

“I can’t say that I have a special mood when I shoot my pictures. I can’t say I go with my camera and shoot everything I see. I only take pictures when I have time, when I plan a certain target. My main theme is the landscape, either urban as well as nature. I love nature. I like to catch its life, its dynamics. I love travelling! And when I do, I take my camera and when I see something interesting I stop and “shoot”. I delete tens, hundreds of images and see what rests. I am searching the technique, the impression, the mood, the expression according to certain criteria that are hard to define even to myself. I find it difficult to describe my photos. I develop and feed my passion for photography – it relaxes me and doesn’t oblige me in any way!”

The exhibit is open until 31st of May – if you want to visit it here is a direct SLurl or you could come to Virtual Bucharest and “embark” from the special gangway directly to the famous ship.
